FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup set to return to Madagascar for 2026 and 2027

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 14.04.2026) :: Building on their successful hosting during the last two years, the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup will continue to be held in Madagascar for the 2026 and 2027 editions.

The FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup will once again bring together the leading men's and women's national teams from across the region as they engage in a battle for continental honors.

The host nation will have the opportunity to potentially complete an amazing treble sweep, having won both the men's and women's FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup titles in 2024 and 2025.

The 2026 edition will take place later this year, on December 3-6, in the capital of Antananarivo. It will once again be held at the Palace of Culture and Sports, a location which has showcased all the best elements of FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup and proven very popular with fans and players.

Alex Sanchez, FIBA 3x3 Managing Director, commented: "Madagascar has an excellent track record of delivering memorable FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup experiences -- both on the court for the players and also through its hospitality and ability to create a festival feel around each event for the fans. We are excited to be able to agree on an extension for 2026 and 2027, which will mean four consecutive editions being held in the country. This is something that highlights the way Madagascar continues to embrace 3x3 basketball and the passion everyone shows for it."

"We thank Madagascar for once again hosting a FIBA 3x3 event. Their continued commitment is a true reflection of the dedication they bring to developing 3x3 basketball across the country," added Julien Farran, FIBA Africa Executive Director.

"Hosting the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup for four consecutive editions is a source of immense pride for Madagascar. Our players have shown what is possible on the continental stage, and we will do everything to make 2026 and 2027 worthy of that legacy," said Jean Michel Ramaroson, FIBA Central Board Member and President of the Fédération Malagasy de Basket-Ball.
