"VAN" (Sports Desk - 16.08.2026) :: The first match of the day between Barak Legends and Charaideo Sunrisers in the ongoing Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday was abandoned due to rain, with both teams sharing a point each.
With 11 points from eight matches, Legends have moved to the top of the points table. Meanwhile, Sunrisers, who have played the same number of matches, sit fifth with seven points.
Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first, Legends posted 177/6 in their allotted overs. Their two openers, Bishal Saha (54) and Shraban Khound (47), gave a solid start with an 81-run partnership. While Shraban fell three runs short of a half-century, Bishal remained unbeaten to complete his fourth fifty of the season while holding onto the Orange Cap.
After the fall of both openers, the Legends' middle order failed to fire, though Abdul Ajij's unbeaten 32 off 12 balls in the closing stages of the innings lifted the side to a respectable total. Reshabh Dipak of the Sunrisers picked up three wickets for 22 runs.
In reply, Sunrisers had reached 35/0 in 2.5 overs when rain forced play to be halted. At the time, opener Pradyun Saikia was batting on 33 off 13 balls, with skipper Sumit Ghadigaonkar (2) at the other end. With the match unable to resume, the umpires called it off.
