"VAN" (Sports Desk - 11.06.2026) :: As the final countdown to The Championships, Wimbledon begins, The All England Lawn Tennis Club has today unveiled its iconic line-up of tennis talent to battle it out at The Wimbledon Court in Central Park, New York.
It was revealed last week that Wimbledon would be returning to Manhattan this month, as the famous Wollman Rink will be transformed into a pop-up grass court, installed and maintained by Wimbledon’s expert groundstaff.
Headlining the event is The Wimbledon Court Invitational. To be staged on the afternoon of Friday 26 June, the event will see the following tennis stars play in a friendly invitational:
- Eight-time Grand Slam champion and Olympic gold medallist Andre Agassi;
- Former World No.1 and Grand Slam champion Caroline Wozniacki;
- Former World No.4 and New York’s very own tennis trailblazer James Blake; and
- Wimbledon singles runner-up from 2014 Genie Bouchard.
Between them, the players have made over 40 Wimbledon appearances, achieved over 100 singles titles (including nine Grand Slam titles) and have over 60 years’ worth of combined professional tennis experience.
Former Wimbledon Champion, Andre Agassi, said: “Wimbledon has such a special place in my heart and my career as the stage where I broke through to win my first Grand Slam singles title. It was an incredible feeling and a moment that will always stay with me. That’s why I’m really excited about the chance to be a part of bringing The Wimbledon Court experience to the heart of New York City. I look forward to being in Central Park alongside friends and broadcast colleagues, Caroline, James and Genie and in front of my New York fans.”
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June a number of lucky fans will have the rare chance to test their grass court tennis skills with free slots to play on the pop-up court - presented by Barclays, Official Banking Partner of The Championships - on offer via a public ballot.
