Record-breaking rotary revival fills Sydney Motorsport Park

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 25.10.2026) :: A record 419 rotary-powered cars rolled into Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday for Rotary Revival Sydney, drawing a big crowd of enthusiasts to a full day of rotary action, well surpassing the previous record of approximately 350 cars, which was pre-COVID.

Rotary Revival is Australia’s celebration of rotary-powered cars, bringing enthusiasts and their Wankel-engined cars together on the track.

The event welcomes every make, style and model of rotary car, and the paddock well and truly reflected that with old-school cruisers and street cars alongside show cars, circuit racers, and all-out drag machines.

Entrants took passengers around the circuit in five cruise sessions, while the circuit-focused cars ran in five Racer Laps sessions through the day.

Also on the program was a parade lap, off street racing, and roll racing, with a large crowd of enthusiasts soaking it all in from every angle while also being treated to no end of sights in the paddock, including a hotly contested Show n Shine and plenty of exciting trader stands.

"To see a record field of 419 rotaries and so many people come through the gates today was fantastic," Rotary Revival event organiser, Gen Dodd, said.

"This community turns up with incredible cars and a lot of passion, and you could feel it all day. We are thrilled with how today went, and we can't wait to take it to two new venues over the next few weeks!”

In less than three weeks, Rotary Revival will head to South Australia for only the third time in its history, and the first ever time at Mallala Motorsport Park (Saturday November 14). It will then move to Victoria’s Calder Park in on Saturday 5 December, the first time Rotary Revival has been staged in the state.
