~ In the women's final, Sindhu defeated Denmark's Line Kjærsfeldt in straight games, while in the men's final, Lakshya overcame world number 6 player Jonatan Christie.
"VAN" (Sports Desk - 02.11.2026) :: India won both the singles titles at the HiLo Open 2026 badminton tournament played at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken, Germany on Sunday . PV Sindhu became the women's champion, while Lakshya Sen won the men's title.
In the women's singles final, PV Sindhu, ranked eighth and seeded second, defeated world No. 25 Line Kyrsfeldt of Denmark 21-12, 21-14. The match lasted 39 minutes.
Sindhu, playing in her second consecutive final, took control of the match from the start. The first game was tied at 5-5, but she then changed her momentum and won the first game easily.
In the second game, the Indian shuttler - who had lost only once in seven meetings against her Danish opponent before Sunday's match - never trailed and easily claimed the BWF Super 500 title.
After the match, Sindhu said, "I think it was important for me to give my 100%, no matter who the player was. We have played many times before, so it was important for me to concentrate on every point. I think I took the lead right from the beginning and did not give her any chance."
This is Sindhu's second title on the tour this year, following the Japan Open Super 750 in July. The Japan Open was her first individual title since December 2024. In total, she now has seven BWF World Tour titles.
This is the first season since 2022 in which Sindhu has won more than one BWF World Tour title. Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu also played the French Open final last week, but lost to world No. 1 and Paris 2024 champion An Se-young of South Korea.
Seventh seed and world number 14 Lakshya Sen then won his second HiLo Open title by defeating sixth-seeded Jonatan Christie of Indonesia 21-17, 21-10 in 39 minutes.
He won his first title in 2019, when the tournament was in the Super 100 category.
The Indian shuttler started well, troubling Christie with her superb net shots to take an 18-10 lead. However, the Indonesian player won seven consecutive points to reduce the gap to just one.
Lakshya found his rhythm at the right time and won the first game. He then completely dominated the second. He finished runner-up at the All England Open earlier this year.
With this win, Lakshya leveled his head-to-head record against Christie at 4-4 and won his fifth World Tour title. He also has two Super 100 titles to his name.
