"VAN" (Sports Desk - 26.09.2026) :: Jordan’s Mohammad Alja’fari delivered a commanding performance to win the men’s kumite (sparring) -84kg title and secure his country’s first gold medal of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026. The 22-year-old defeated Iran’s Ali Asghar Asiabari 9-1 in Tuesday’s final at Toyohashi Gymnasium, completing an impressive campaign in which he conceded only two points across three bouts. He opened with a 4-1 quarter-final victory over Chinese Taipei’s Chung Meng-yu before overpowering India’s Chetan Bhatt 8-0 in the semi-final. The victory upgraded Alja’fari’s bronze medal from the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and gave Jordan its sixth Asian Games gold medal overall. Before Aichi-Nagoya 2026, Jordan had collected 54 medals since making its Asian Games debut at Seoul 1986, including five golds, 21 silvers and 28 bronzes. Cr-AIPS
