"VAN" (Sports Desk - 01.08.2026) :: With Simone Biles, the greatest gymnast in history, as the guest of honor and a massive public celebration, Peruvians will mark the one-year countdown to the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
To this end, a massive family festival has been organized at one of the most iconic locations in the Peruvian capital, Lima’s Plaza Mayor, featuring performances by prominent national artists, culinary exhibits, sports demonstrations, and a grand finale expected to be attended by key government and sports officials, Peruvian Olympic athletes, and the American superstar Simone Biles, who will be visiting Peru for the first time.
This major public event will take place next Thursday, August 6, starting at 3 p.m. and is expected to end after 9 p.m. The internationally renowned Amazonian cumbia group Los Mirlos will close out this important evening.
