~ Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree enacting a decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to impose sanctions on 95 individuals and 70 legal entities.
"VAN" (International Desk - 05.01.2026) :: According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, "Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree putting into effect a decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the application of sanctions against 95 individuals and 70 legal entities, the majority of whom are citizens and residents of the Russian Federation," the statement said.
The measures target individuals and companies involved in servicing Russia's state defense procurement and activities of its defense industry. These include enterprises and their executives that manufacture and supply products in the fields of communications, electronic warfare, and microelectronics for Russia's military industry and security agencies.
Sanctions have also been imposed on industrial enterprises in Russia's chemical, extractive, and metallurgical industries, as well as the fuel and energy sector.
"The restrictions introduced are intended to complicate the servicing of Russia's military-industrial complex and limit its capacity to produce weapons and military equipment used in the war against Ukraine," the Office of the President said.
It was also emphasized that Ukraine will continue working with partners to synchronize Ukrainian sanctions within partner jurisdictions. Some of the listed measures will be taken into account in the EU's 20th sanctions package, which is currently being prepared.
Presidential Decree No. 8/2026 dated January 3, 2026, "On the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine 'On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)'" has been published on the presidential website. The decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
On December 26, Zelensky signed two decrees enacting NSDC decisions on synchronizing sanctions with the United Kingdom and on applying restrictive measures in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
