"VAN" (Sports Desk - 13.05.2025) :: With the second half of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2024-25 fast approaching, we are catching up with players and coaches of all 9 men’s and women’s teams to take the temperature on the first half of their season and explore their targets for the remaining matches. In today’s interview, we speak with Craig Fulton, the head coach of the Indian men's team, as they head into the second half of the season currently in third place, just one point off the lead...

What are your thoughts on the upcoming second half of the FIH Hockey Pro League season?

The European leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League campaign is all set to be a very exciting one, and the Indian Men’s Hockey Team is gearing up for the games with full gusto. As always, our focus will be to get the wins and be the best versions of ourselves when we take the field against some of the powerhouses of the sport.

In the first half of the season, India played at home, whereas this time the team is travelling to Netherlands, Belgium and England. What kind of effect do you think this will have on the team?

The previous leg was fantastic for the Indian Men’s Hockey Team in terms of the fact that we were playing at home. However, that is not to say that playing away from home is a disadvantage. The Indian Men’s Hockey Team is a very experienced and well settled unit, and whether we play in India or in Europe, and against whichever team, the ultimate goal remains the same – to win. We have played the likes of the Netherlands, Argentina, Australia and Belgium before, and have had success too, and we will do everything possible to produce a good performance.

Australia has always been one of the toughest tests for the Indian Men’s Hockey Team. How do you prepare to face them?

The Australian team is a very strong team and one of the toughest to face when they are in good form. But, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team understands the challenge that is in front of us, and we are leaving no stone unturned in our preparations. We are confident of doing well against the Australians.
