"VAN" (Sports Desk - 24.10.2025) :: Edge Mallis and Cheryl ‘MsVRod’ Beddoes will be ones to watch at the upcoming All Bike Nationals at Dragway at The Bend, which will be a part of the 2025/2026 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship for New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike, Ballistic Performance Parts Modified Bike), and New Gen Business Park Competition Bike.
Both Mallis and Beddoes rewrote the ANDRA record books at the Sunset Nationals (Atlantic Oils Sunset Strip, Mildura) in September, before heading to Tailem Bend’s Dragway at The Bend for the three-day SPRY Spring Nationals across October 3-5.
Now, both are getting ready for what is fast becoming a must-do event on the calendar of bike racers across the country: November 8’s All Bike Nationals.
It was a successful Sunset Nationals for Mallis – the reigning John Storm Memorial winner – indeed, updating his own Competition Bike (DD/CB) ET record of 5.022 to 4.943 seconds on his way to the victory over Beddoes in the final. He also claimed the Top Qualifier Medallion, presented by New Gen Business Park.
“In Mildura we were struggling all meeting with wheel spin which was making the bike steer itself, and the more power we pulled out of it, the faster it became, which was a real surprise actually,” Mallis said.
“The result, and the win, came after three and a half months off the bike, so I was really happy and I tell you what, those runs really woke me up! The bike has so much power that we can’t use it all, it is an animal of a thing.
“We struggled again with those traction issues at the Spring Nationals, so we decided on a tried and tested way of slowing it down and went 7.33 world record times again! So, we were very happy with the outcome, even if we did miss the final round.
“I haven’t raced at an All Bike Meeting for more than 20 years, so I am really looking forward now to heading back to The Bend for that and to catch up with everyone and take every round as it comes. If the track conditions are on point, we will take a swing at it,” he smiled, while being sure to thank his crew – Aaron Kilderry and Mick Donohue – as well as his tuner Blaze Hansen and his partner Leticia.
On her way to being the runner-up in Mildura, Beddoes reset the Competition Bike (V/CB) record previously held by Joe Khoury from 5.609 seconds to 5.595 seconds. She is currently leading the ANDRA championship standings.
“The bike is really good on the eighth mile – we changed the sprocket to suit the eighth mile and didn’t do anything else to the clutch and the bike was just really consistent all weekend at the Sunset Nationals. I was really excited to set that record, especially as I took it off my mentor Joe,” Beddoes grinned.
“At the Spring Nationals the bike ran its fastest quarter-mile ever, but the field was just too hard for us to progress to the final.
“I am really excited to be heading back to The Bend for the All Bike meeting, especially as it is an ANDRA round as well. I am already on the cap in the points, one of the first to reach it this season, and the bike has been really consistent all season.
“For me the focus on this event will be not red lighting, as I red lit in every elimination run at the Spring Nationals – I did a good .002 light and then from there, it was all reds. When you are only two hundredths of a second under your index against people who are a second under theirs, you have to cut a good light!
“I can’t wait to get back there, I love the crowd at Tailem Bend, they are really awesome, and the track is great. Hopefully we can get a good result,” she added, while thanking her riding partner and mentor Joe Khoury, Jimmy from Twin Tunes, and Edge Creative Printing.
Mallis and Beddoes aren’t the only racers to set records recently, with Damien Harris bettering his own Top Fuel (T/F) 1000ft top speed record from 329.21mph to 333.51mph at the Spring Nationals, while Peter Pisalidis took both the ET and MPH markers from Connor McClure at this same event, updating them from 6.343 seconds and 217.87mph to 6.232 seconds and 227.35mph.
