"VAN" (Sports Desk - 28.10.2025) :: The 2025 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup finale in Toronto delivered an unforgettable finish to the three-stop series, as eight World Records fell before a roaring Canadian crowd.

Australia’s Lani Pallister stunned the swimming world by breaking Katie Ledecky’s long-standing 800m freestyle World Record in 7:54.00 — the first time Ledecky has ever been dethroned in the event.

Kate Douglass became the first woman to break 50 seconds in the 100m freestyle (49.93) to clinch the women’s overall World Cup title just in front of fellow American Gretchen Walsh.

Hungary’s Hubert Kos sealed the men’s crown with record-breaking swims in the 100m and 200m backstroke. Kos saved his best for last, breaking the 100m backstroke World Record in his final swim on the 2025 tour to emphatically finish his World Cup season with nine wins across the three backstroke races.

Canada’s Joshua Liendo ignited home fans with a World Record in the 100m butterfly, and teammate Ilya Kharun added a triple crown in the 50m butterfly.

With World Records, rivalries, and local heroes shining across three nights, Toronto proved a fitting finale for one of the fastest - and fiercest - World Cups in history.
