"VAN" (Sports Desk - 02.12.2025) :: World Rowing is proud to highlight the strong and growing momentum of Indoor and Connected Rowing following three major initiatives delivered in partnership with the Singapore Rowing Association and Sport Singapore: the World Rowing Super60 Singapore 2025, the Singapore National Indoor Rowing Championships, and the World Rowing Versa Challenge, held in Asia for the very first time.
Together, these events signal a major step forward in expanding participation, performance pathways, and elite competition within Asia’s rapidly growing Indoor Rowing landscape.
Launched as part of Singapore’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the inaugural World Rowing Super60 Singapore 2025 brought a bold new concept to the region.
With 60 activations planned across schools, gyms, corporates, and uniform groups, communities across Singapore gained access to Indoor Rowing for the last few months, culminating in a high-energy Grand Finale at the Singapore EXPO last weekend, within the Singapore Urban Sports + Fitness Festival.
The Super60 featured three main initiatives: The mass-participation, Super 60 Challenge, where athletes had to row as far as possible in 60 seconds; The Singapore National Indoor Rowing Championships, with 500m, 2000m, and relay races being offered; and the World Rowing Versa Challenge, featuring 16 world-class athletes, including Singapore wild cards.
The World Rowing Versa Challenge - Indoor Rowing’s premier multi-event championship - arrived in Asia for the first time, attracting top athletes from around the world. Across five intense events, competitors demonstrated extraordinary power, versatility, and endurance.
Winners of the 2025 World Rowing Versa Challenge:
Women’s Champion: Charlotte Dixon, Great Britain
Men’s Champion: Anders Edquist, Sweden
The event showcased the evolution of elite Indoor/Connected Rowing and delivered a world-class spectator experience to the region.
World Rowing Executive Director Vincent Gaillard praised the achievements in Singapore and highlighted the strategic importance of the federation’s expanding Indoor/Connected Rowing pathway. “The success of these initiatives in Singapore demonstrates the extraordinary potential of Indoor and Connected Rowing to reach new communities and inspire new generations. We are deeply grateful to our partners, whose commitment has made these events and activations possible. Together, we are building an ambitious pathway for the global expansion of Indoor and Connected Rowing.”
With mass participation, national-level racing, and elite performance converging in a dynamic new model, Singapore has set a powerful blueprint for the future of Indoor Rowing globally.
