“VAN” (Shingirai Vambe – Zimbabwe) :: Buhera District of Zimbabwe hosted seed and food fair with the large numbers of spectators. There were a variety of seeds and food stuff that was exhibited by different stockholders at the show, our tradition food and drink (maheu) was the talk of the event, “promoting indigenous value chains for sustainable community resilience” this was a call to remind Buhera community the value of traditional foods. It is now being encouraged that we embrace the consumption of our traditional foods for the precautionsmeasures of our health, taking cognisance of the GMOs that are coming through our boarders which are affecting our day to day living. The guest of honour at this occasion was the District Administrator for Buhera Mr F.M. Mavhiza and other invited guests who include the DISPO for Buhera Mrs Chikomba, Buhera Rural District Council C.E.O Mrs Chibvongodze and other partners from World Vision, USAID and SAFIRE. The D.A called for an approach to take use of the Ruti Dam which is laying idle, which can be invested on for irrigation purposes. Seed companies were also present at this occasion exhibiting their products at this food fair.
