"VAN" (International Desk - 26.11.2023) :: The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the Afghan Taliban on Thursday to take immediate action against the Tehrek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members operating in Afghan territory.
Mumtaz Balouch, the spokesperson for the ministry, stated that the Afghan Taliban ignored the activities and sanctuaries of the TTP in Afghanistan.
She, like other officials of the country, mentioned that Pakistani militants launched attacks against Pakistani forces from within Afghanistan.
Previously, in response to similar statements from Pakistani officials, the Taliban emphasized that they would prevent the actions of militant groups against Afghanistan’s neighbouring countries.
However, the Taliban has reiterated that they will not allow any individual or group to use Afghanistan soil against neighbouring countries, including Pakistan.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan has stated that with the rise of the Taliban to power, terrorist attacks in Pakistan have increased by 60 percent.
The spokesperson for the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized in a press conference in Islamabad that the Taliban should evacuate the sanctuaries of the Tehrek-i-Taliban Pakistan from within Afghanistan.
He added that the Pakistani government is currently negotiating with the Taliban government on security issues.
Meanwhile, Pakistani authorities initiated the forced deportation of Afghan refugees starting from November 1. They assert that the presence of these refugees has hurt the country’s security situation.
This move has raised concerns about the well-being of the displaced Afghan population and the broader implications for regional stability.
The forced deportation of Afghan refugees is a significant development that not only affects the individuals and families being uprooted but also has wider implications for the relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as the overall stability of the region. It remains to be seen how this policy decision will be received internationally and how it will influence the already complex dynamics in the region.
