"VAN" (Afghanistan Bureau - 21.04.2024) :: The Kapisa province security command reported that two women were killed by armed individuals in the province.
According to a statement by the security command, the incident occurred around 4 PM on Thursday, April 18th, in the village of “Pacha Qawm Hassanabad” in the Alasay district of the province.
The Kapisa security command attributed the cause of the killings to personal enmities, but no information has been provided about the identities of the women killed.
The armed individuals suspected in the case have been identified, according to the security command’s statement, but they managed to escape after firing.
Earlier, a young man had fatally shot his father with a hunting rifle in the Nijrab district of the province.
Since the Taliban’s rise to power in Afghanistan, there has been a disturbing surge in reprisal killings, particularly targeting women.
Experts attribute this rise in violence to the oppressive policies enforced by the Taliban, which include severe restrictions on women’s rights, such as banning education and employment opportunities.
The dire situation in the country, exacerbated by poverty and the Taliban’s repressive regime, has led to increased fear and insecurity, particularly among vulnerable populations like women.
