Third Batch of NBT’s Online Book Publishing Course Begins

"VAN" (Delhi Bureau) :: National Book Trust, India (under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India) started its 3rd batch of Online Book Publishing Course from 20 February 2021 in collaboration with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University, Bhopal.

The three-month online course (till 16 May 2021) aims to create a category of professionals that are knowledgeable about all the aspects of the publishing industry, right from the inception of a book to its delivery to the reader.

Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, NBT in his address said that publishing is a holy profession as books influence not just the society, but also a person’s behaviour, mentality and his intellect. He talked about the publishing course of NBT, its larger scope in the society and the need of the hour for creating a pool of professionals.

In his address at the inaugural session, Shri Yuvraj Malik, Director, NBT talked about the mandate behind NBT’s Book Publishing Course, to provide a competent workforce to support the knowledge industry of the nation, to create a knowledge-based society and thinking individuals. He further added that the course will not be a one-way dialogue, rather the marking and evaluation system will ensure that the participants get the maximum benefit from it.

Prof. Ramdev Bhardwaj, Vice Chancellor, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University, Bhopal in his address said that the publishing industry has an important task to make the younger generation aware about the rich history, traditions and culture of the nation by producing books and content that is inherently Indian in its focus. He spoke on the relevance of such a course in the present times and the scope of translation in the country today.

Proposing a vote of thanks, Ms Neera Jain, Chief Editor& Joint Director, NBT asked the participants to make the most of these learning opportunities being provided to them by way of regularly attending the sessions and submitting the assignments on time.

About fifty participants from Kolkata, Hyderabad, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh Bihar, Kerala Chennai, Faridabad, Sonipat and Bhopal have enrolled themselves for the course, wherein various eminent professionals from leading publishing houses and institutions in India will provide insights into various aspects of book publishing.
