~ At least four civilians were killed and further 10 were wounded in a mortar attack in northern Faryab province, local authorities confirmed Thursday. "VAN" (Afghanistan Bureau) :: Abdul Karim Yourish, a spokesman for the provincial police, said the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. after a mortar shell landed in a market in Shareen Tagab district of the province. “The mortar was fired ‘by the Taliban’ to target the security forces, but all the victims are civilians who were at the market to shop,” Yourish said. No group or individual has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. KP
