"VAN" (Afghanistan Bureau - 05.01.2023) :: On Wednesday, the Tehrik –e- Taliban Pakistan (TTP) issued a warning explicitly to the leaders of the two major political parties in the ruling coalition, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan people party (PPP).
Prime Minister Sharif and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, the two leaders of the two largest parties, have committed to support their respective parties in the war against the TTP in the country.
The militant warning came after Pakistan’s prime minister chaired a meeting on National Security Committee (NSC) and vowed to show “zero tolerance” for terrorist activity in the country.
“If these two parties remain firm on their position and continue to be slaves of the army, then action will be taken against their leading people,” According to a statement released by the group.
Similarly, the group warned that “people should avoid getting close to such leading people.” At the same time, the group requested the religious parties to refrain from activities against them.
The TTP, considered an ally of the Afghan Taliban (IEA), has increased its recent terrorist attacks across the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, said, Pakistani officials. As a result, the NSC meeting also threatened the Taliban (IEA) leaders, saying, “no country will be allowed to provide hideout and facilitate to terrorists.”
The group, also listed as a global terrorist outlet by the United Nations and the U.S., has lately carried out almost daily attacks, killing hundreds of security forces, civilians and foreign nationals in Pakistan.
