"VAN" (LIMA 2019 - Sports Desk) :: The Athletic Stadium of VIDENA looks practically ready to welcome the more than 700 athletes that will arrive from all over the continent, four months from the start of Lima 2019. This is after the main competition track was installed and its nine lanes lined, including before the date initially announced to be delivered to the Peruvian Athletics Federation.
The final works of conditioning, and the installation of temporary bleachers are pending. For its part, the warm-up track is ready to be used since April by national athletes.
This was demonstrated today during an official visit made to VIDENA by the Organizing Committee of Lima 2019, in which Movistar TV was announced as the official cable television media of the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.
THE RED TRACK
The athletic track, on which the announcement was made today, is red and for its installation, first class materials were used, similar to the one used in the London 2012 Olympic Games. It will be at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In the center, natural grass has been placed to carry out the launching tests.
The Athletic Track passed the certification tests of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF, for its acronym in English), having been subjected to laboratory tests and delimitation. With this, the scenario will be able to host the first level competitions for the world-class infrastructure with which it will count from now on.
The Atlético Stadium will have a capacity of more than 10 thousand spectators during the Pan-American and Parapan American Games. Once the Games are over, its final capacity will be six thousand people. The seats have already been installed, some of them, such as those located in the main grandstand, are under the roof. The lighting towers are placed and work 100% for night competitions.
The revamped Athletic Track is located in what will be the main venue and the heart of the Games: the National Sports Village. The VIDENA will host a total of ten competitions: Athletics, Swimming, Track Cycling, Handball, Judo, Badminton, Table Tennis, Figure Skating, Bowling and Squash. While during the Parapan Am Games you will receive Para athletics, For swimming, Wheelchair basketball, For powerlifting, Judo, For badminton, For table tennis and For track cycling.
